This is a common error. Outlook Express has a setting that will disconnect from the internet once it is done sending or receiving email.

    To disable the Auto-Disconnect feature in Outlook Express
  1. click on Tools, then Options
  2. Click on Connections tab at the top.
  3. Uncheck the box labeled Hang Up after sending and receiving.
  4. Click Apply and OK at the bottom.
